Why are we doing the CHONQUER clinical trial? 

The CHONQUER study is a clinical research study exploring a new treatment for adults with locally
advancedⓘ,The illness has spread beyond its original location but has not reached other distant parts of the body. or metastaticⓘ,The illness has spread beyond its original location but has not reached other distant parts of the body. conventional chondrosarcomaⓘA type of cancer that starts in the cartilage, which is the tough, flexible tissue that helps cushion joints and supports various structures in the body. In simpler terms, it is a cancer that forms in cartilage cells. This type of cancer typically grows slowly and can cause pain and swelling in the affected area. It is most commonly found in the bones of the arms, legs or pelvis.
Chondrosarcoma is a rare cancer that usually starts in the bones. It is the most common form of bone sarcoma in adults. While surgery is currently the most common treatment option, many patients experience a return of their disease after surgery, and these tumours tend to resist chemotherapy.

Chondrosarcoma is a serious condition and has no approved medications. New treatment options are urgently needed. In this study, researchers aim to find out whether the study drug, an investigational treatment (a medicine being studied in a research setting, which has not yet been approved for this type of cancer), may be safe and effective in managing this rare bone sarcoma.

By participating, you will help researchers to learn more about this rare bone cancer and provide hope for better care for others living with chondrosarcoma in the future.

Who can take part in the CHONQUER clinical trial?  

We are looking for participants who:

Are 18 years old or older
Have been diagnosed with locally advancedⓘ,The illness has spread beyond its original location but has not reached other distant parts of the body. or metastaticⓘ,The illness has spread beyond its original location but has not reached other distant parts of the body. conventional chondrosarcomaⓘA type of cancer that starts in the cartilage, which is the tough, flexible tissue that helps cushion joints and supports various structures in the body. In simpler terms, it is a cancer that forms in cartilage cells. This type of cancer typically grows slowly and can cause pain and swelling in the affected area. It is most commonly found in the bones of the arms, legs or pelvis. .
Have a specific genetic mutation (IDH1) which will be confirmed by testing as part of the study

Têm 18 anos de idade ou mais
Foram diagnosticados com condrossarcoma convencional ⓘA doença se espalhou além de sua localização original, mas não alcançou partes distantes do corpo. or localmente avançado ouⓘ,A doença se espalhou de seu local original para outras partes do corpo. metastáticoⓘUm tipo de câncer que começa na cartilagem, que é o tecido resistente e flexível que ajuda a amortecer as articulações e suporta várias estruturas no corpo. What else should I know about this chondrosarcoma clinical trial?

Participation in a clinical study is voluntary and making the decision to enrol is very important but can be difficult choice.

Without clinical trials, many medical treatments and cures would not exist. Clinical trials help bring new treatments to the market. The goal of a clinical trial is to determine if interventions are safe and effective. Clinical trials look at new ways to prevent, detect or treat a disease. 

There is no guarantee of medical benefit. Your condition may improve, stay the same or worsen. The study drug may cause side effects, but your health will be closely monitored throughout the study. You can leave the study at any time without it affecting your usual healthcare.
